Fighting Osteoporosis From an Early Age
Million Dollar Bones is a multi-modal program that strives to involve children and teens in a variety of activities to
raise awareness of the importance of bone health and good posture and mitigate the onset of osteopenia and osteoporosis. The goal is to
engage children at an early age and to use them to integrate good behaviors into the daily activities of the
entire family. The program includes:
- Education and training for children in proper posture, exercises, and movements
- Tactile activities (including 2D and 3D components) to provide awareness into body form and function
- Music and other creative activities to maintain interest and to promote retention
- Outreach campaigns, initiated by the children, to involve all family members
The Million Dollar Bones program has been developed by Penny Shure, who is a National Osteoporosis Foundation support group leader. She would like to visit your school or youth group to help your kids and their families start developing lifelong habits to make them happier and healthier people.
